SAN DIEGO (May 5, 2014) - Thriller author Martin Roy Hill was interviewed by Book Reader Magazine about his latest novel, Empty Places.
Hill discussed the early influences on his writing as well his first experience in publishing.
While attending U.S. Coast Guard basic training, he learned from his parents his first piece was published by Reader's Digest in the magazine's Humor In Uniform section.
"My parents sent me a letter telling me about the piece being published and I got very excited," he recalled. "My drill instructor stopped me and demanded to know why I was so excited. I told him and he responded with a straight face, 'Hill, you are a joke in uniform.' That was my first experience with critics."
